He also abolished the idea of a racial supremacy of Jews (or anyone else @NoBacon comment) and made clear that Israel is the living church. Rabbinical Judaism (what the Jews of today follow) actually dates to the centuries after Jesus' death and Resurrection. He predicted the destruction of the second temple by the Romans (70 A.D.) and from that point the Jews had nowhere to perform temple worship. They coped for half a millenia by writing the Talmud and eventually bootstrapping a religion on top of that.
Basically orthodox Christianity is the continuation of Jewish temple worship and modern Judaism (even what they call orthodox Judaism) has nothing to do with the Israelite religion that existed when Jesus was born.
