Despite being only ~12% of the population, Black Americans have their voices heard and their needs met politically due to shrewd organizational skills and foresight. They do this by coming together to vote as a near unanimous bloc, so they exercise tremendous influence on the Democratic party. If an outsider watched the DNC convention, they would probably think African Americans make up ~70% of the American populace.
Other groups are fractured and don't vote in nearly as unified of a matter. Hispanics are by far the largest-growing group and wield less influence in either party because they seemingly lack the ability to unify. Whites are still the majority of the population, but neither party panders specifically to them because they are frought with in-fighting, petty squabbles and bitter divisions. Other racial groups lack the cognitive skills to wield true political power like Black Americans. The only group who came close were Jewish Americans who historically voted as a Democratic bloc, but now divisions over Israel are jeopardizing that.
