What are your thoughts on my takeaway from Gen. 22? First I decided years ago that I am not a repeater but one who seeks to understand. This can lead to being an outcast so to speak but I don't mind since I am not employed by any religious entity. I am free to disagree. (and get others thoughts) So concerning Gen 22 I lean to reject all the standard instruction about what all this child sacrifice means for us, as simpleton shallow commentary that is missing the mark. There has to be more to this than all that shallow commentary suggests. Here are my thoughts on what might hit the mark. God said the reason for this sacrifice was to determine if Abraham feared him. "Now I know that you fear God" vs 12. But I am thinking that fearing God as we would typically define it, might also lead us to have a very shallow and simpleton view. Instead I am thinking this. Scripture is loaded with Gods anger about humans worshiping false Gods whether real (angels) or made up pieces of wood or otherwise invented by man. Men creating a god out of wood and then via peer, government, or religious pressure convincing humans to sacrifice their children to these phony gods actually did occur. Image that a person who did not invent the god, did not gain governmental or religious privilege's by sacrificing their child nevertheless did so because they were told that they had to. And they did. Imagine living in that culture. Mind boggling. But I am also certain that a large segment of that culture knew that it was all a crock and stupid nonsense but were trapped if their child was seized. But if given the option would not sacrifice their kids to that nonsense. They did not believe pieces of wood were real gods. So Abraham willing to obey Yahweh and sacrifice his child is an affirmation that yes indeed Abraham has acknowledged that Yahweh was real, the one true God actually to be feared. God himself in this story said "Now I know that you fear God" vs 12. All the standard takeaways taught in churches have a casual superficial connection to the story but would not suffice AT ALL as this drama played out in real life with Abraham and Isaac. Imagine the standard modern takeaways going through Abraham and Isaac's head. They would not have been thinking these things, Imagine what I have suggested going through their heads. I think it would be a much more likely thinking as it was actually playing out.

Was it the case that Deuteronomy 16:5-7 called for boiling the Passover meal?

In a recent correspondence, Peter Enns addressed a review of his latest book and defended his interpretation of a discrepancy between Exodus 12:8–9 and (I believe) Deuteronomy 16:5-7. He appears to be arguing that the latter requires Israel to boil the Passover meal, even though the former forbids it. Deuteronomy says, "bashal the meat," while Exodus says, "don't bashal in water the meat."
There is only one translation that, in regards to the Deuteronomy passage, concurs with Enns. I looked up the translations of the command in the NIV, ESV, NET, HCSB, NRSV, NASB, and KJV, and they all translate it as "You shall cook and eat [the sacrifice]." The phrase "And you shall boil it and eat it" appears in the RSV but not in the NRSV.
Who is right? Is it better to translate that word as "cook" or as "boil"?

In Isaiah 45:7
I form light and create darkness,
I make well-being and create calamity,
I am the LORD, who does all these things.
The word "create" is the same word used in Genesis 1:1
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
The word's other uses are almost exclusively related to the act of creation. As in Jeremiah 31:22, many other applications suggest trying something completely different. Some usages, like "choose," "cut down," "dispatch," "done," and "make fat," have entirely different meanings. Except for this passage, though, none of them seem to discuss producing something undesirable.
Moreover, "darkness" and "calamity" seem to me more like the absence of something else than things in and of themselves ("light" and "shalom"). "Create darkness" seems a bit of an oxymoron, but maybe I'm reading more modern metaphysics into this passage.

In Isaiah 29:12, it is mentioned that the people to whom the prophecy is directed cannot read. However, the verse does not specifically mention a prophet who cannot read or write. It refers to a group of people who cannot understand or comprehend the words of the book because they are not literate. Here is the verse for reference:
"And when they give the book to one who cannot read, saying, 'Read this,' he says, 'I cannot read.'"
Isaiah 29:12 (ESV)
If you are referring to a specific prophet who could not read or write, there is no direct reference in this verse.

The Recovery of Samson 9

Judges 16:26
And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
One of the secrets to quick recovery from a fall is
# Humility. Humility gives access to grace and mercy which at the long run unlocks favour Psalm 102:13, James 4:6
#Admit that you need help Matthew 14:30
#Be unashamed to ask for help no matter who it is that it will come from. That's Samson secret
# Be willing and obedient to the helper to do as he or she says so long as it doesn't corrupt the sanctity of your faith and conviction in Christ Isaiah 1:19
# Be positively flexible because change and innovation is a necessity for improvement and for recovery. 1 Kings 17:9
#Have faith in the available provision God gave you presently. Samson had faith on the pillars to lean on them. Elijah had to trust that the widow can sustained him as God said
Before I leave
# Understanding that the winning idea or insight you need to get up from the fall lies in your simplicity to say" I need a help"
Remember : Ask for help and you shall receive
Seek for help and you shall find it
Knock humbly on that door and someone will open for you

Judges 16:26
And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
In life, to get to our desired destination and goal and as well fulfil purpose, we aren't meant to do it all alone. Remember the scripture
Genesis 2:18
It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
If God distaste loneliness, then the journey of destiny must never be a lonely adventure. There has to be destiny companions, partners, friends and covenant mates. That's why in creation the concept of male and female gender of creatures were seen..
If all you have and are in life are by self-made effort, you are cursed and miserable in life. Every great man has ladders of men and women he has to leverage on their strength, grace, gifts, ideas, resources and wisdom to get to the top. And God always provides us with destiny partners. Your job is to discern them and build a worthy relationship with them and value them whether they are higher or lower than you.
On Samson's way to recovery God gave him a lad, a boy, a kid. What can a kid do for a mighty man?*
You may bevsaying that now. Every small guy has areas of great imput to the victory of every mighty man. Yes. Don't look down on anybody because tomorrow you might have to look up to them for great assistance. Hhmm !
The little hand of that little boy led Samson to the pillars he was looking for. Some small, unpopular and insignificant person out there is carrying the answer to your prayers and the map to your destiny while you are looking up to the big names and heads.
Shhh! Lo, I am with you. Not high I am with you.
Mordecai discerned well to position the orphan girl, Esther for the kingdom and mentored her on how to be a deliverer and in turn she made him the No 2 citizen of the land.

I pray for you : Receive the discerning grace to discover your insignificant helper and wisely connect to him/her for your recovery, deliverance and lifting in Jesus name. The lad carrying the two fishes and five loaves that will settle your financial needs may you see the worth in him and relate well.
You shall not be stranded, frustrated or helpless this year. Ebenezer has come in Jesus name Amen

Im ok with this ideer

Do you know God is Able to see you through ?

Here’s a key, God will never ask you to do a hard thing and not give you the ability to do it. When He’s asking you to do something difficult, the grace is there, but you have to step into it. Your mind will tell you, “You can’t forgive; they hurt you too badly. You'll never break this addiction; just live with it.
You can’t do something great; you’re insecure, unqualified.” Don’t believe those lies. There’s nothing the enemy would love more than for you to spend your life running: running from God’s call on your life, running from your fears, running from your hurts, running from your past. It’s time to stop running.
The only way out is through. You can’t go around it. You can’t ignore it and it will go away. Time won’t cause it to disappear. But if you’ll confront it, you can conquer it.

true, but one the other hand you could...
Learn to Be Still Before God, in the face of problems, Moses told the impatient, murmuring and desperate Israelites (some believers also have these qualities) in Exodus 14:13,
“…Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them no more for ever.”
In the book of I Samuel Chapter three, as long as Samuel kept running up and down, God did not speak. God only spoke to him when he lay down, was still and became quiet before the Lord.
In the same way, God wants us to be still and quiet in His presence and He will speak to us.
He will feed us at His table when we are quiet enough to 'eat'.
Brethren, let us stop running from pillar to post in search of miracles. Stop looking unto great men or women of God for solutions to your problems.
Look unto Jesus Christ, and if He directs you to any man of God then you can go.
Nowadays, some people think it odd for someone to say “God said this to me”.
Although some believers have actually abused and misused this phrase, yet the truth remains that God still speaks to His children, but how many hear Him! It is only those who keep quiet in His presence that can hear His voice.
Many believers derive more pleasure and satisfaction in doing other things such as carrying out diverse religious activities in the bid to please God, than in sitting still in the presence of God and having a sweet communion with Him!
It is when we dwell in His secret place (presence) that we will abide under His shadow. He then leads us through afflictions and problems. That is the breakthrough we pursue.
God Himself will lead you and both of you will break through problems together.
In that case, you have little or nothing to do than to obey and submit to Him. He then shows you the path of life as you do so.
That is all. Therefore, stop being too busy for God. There is a realm of sweetness to attain. Desire it.
