They do (or did) that with TV too. X amount of TV needs to be Canadian content. It's why they kept the Ocean dub of Dragon Ball Z going up thar because anime dubs count as true and honest Canadian content. It always goes back to Dragon Balk with me.

It's all tv and all radio has to be a minimum 1/3rd Canadian. There is shit we grew up assuming everyone in the world knew that would turn out to be obscure and Canadian like David Usher, Prozac, Love Inc, Our Lady Peace, etc.

On the flipside of that, there's TV shows that I grew up with that I assumed only Canadians would know because they had that shitty Canadian camcorder look to them. Turns out they were just subpar American shows.
