The perfect confluence of passionate geek developers and publishers shelling out big bucks for them to make whatever they wanted, kinda like films in the late 60s and 70s.
Niggerfaggot culture was gatekept from it.
PC culture was only in its infancy.
Streaming didn't exist. eSports didn't matter enough for games to be fully designed around it.
Minimal predatory monetization or "fix it later" philosophy.
Far less trend chasing and Unreal Engine homogenization.
Soydeving didn't exist and innovation was praised.
Lower market stakes encouraged far more risk taking.

Some niggas say gaming now is just in a slump and it'll be great again. I don't think the culture or the development landscape will allow that, at least not for decades and decades. Games now are either the most sterile boardroom-approved bloated AAA slop or the 2D pixel art indie sidescroller that's an allegory for trans depression. Even when I do play shit now it's usually titles from 10-25 years ago. As much as I hate letting faggots and jews win, I think we need to accept that it's time to move on from our kiddie hobby.

Mainstream games will change when the people creating them change. 20 years ago it was still mostly white guys and asians doing it for the love of creating cool shit. Now it's diversity hires, women, and faggots complaining about having to work an hour a day in between their turns at the dilation station. Gee, I wonder why mainstream games suck now? When the rot of faggotry is purged from the coastal developers then mainstream gaming will heal. Good luck with that happening though until the Jews and all their golems are exterminated.

At least we still have all the games from that time and before. There are thousands if not tens of thousands of games to play before everything went to shit and there are lots of good ones there too. Abandoning gaming as a "kiddie hobby" because of the current shit pile is like stopping listening to music because (googling) Shaboozey has the top song in America right now.

Who cares stop playing games what are you 16?

Anyway I’m 50 hours deep in Yakuza 6 at the moment, great game probably my favourite since 3.
I can't believe people are still playing videogames. What a bunch of losers.

Anyways, in Elden Ring, considering the intricate lore woven throughout the game's vast open world and the interconnected narratives of characters such as Ranni, the Witch, and Radahn, alongside the complex mythology regarding the Elden Ring itself and the concept of the Greater Will influencing the lands between, how do you interpret the philosophical implications of the cycle of death and rebirth embodied in the struggle for the Elden Throne, particularly in relation to themes of agency, destiny, and the moral ambiguity of the choices offered to the player, especially when juxtaposed against the multiple endings that present divergent views on power, sacrifice, and the nature of reality within the context of a post-apocalyptic fantasy realm?

video games will never be what they were twenty years ago because YOU got older.

However- a 12 year old is console gaming right now and thinks Concord (YECH)is amazing.

in 20 years from now, he’s going to complain about games while rarely having sex with the girl down street who uses you like a sexual toliet

…thank you

look at the stellar catalogue of games that came out in 2004 compared to this year. games used to feel distinctly different from each other, willing to experiment with different systems, mechanics, and overall structure. these days, every game uses the exact same template depending on whatever genre it is, leading to a nauseating homogeny that's inescapably prevalent throughout the aaa market. indie games, on the other hand, seem to finally be out of the clutches of pretentious pixel shit that they were trapped in through out the 2010's, focusing instead on just being fun games again, so I do have a bit more hope for the independent scene than I previously had done

The latest game I genuinely enjoyed was Wasteland 3. A game made by fat gen x/boomer developers from the 80s, about a world stuck in a twisted misinterpretation of the Reagan era because of nuclear war, with a soundtrack featuring covers of Wang Chung and Phil Collins... I am starting to see the meta commentary, now that I think about it.

My buddy asked me if I was going to get one of the new Xboxes and I was sincerely like "Why would I?" Half the time I'm playing Xbox 360 games on an Xbox one.
So I launch and install the game, dozens if not hundreds of gigabytes, it's on a solid state hard drive... Why are there still fucking loading screens? Why are they longer than the ones 2 generations ago straight from a disc?

They must have made 10 of these souls games by now and every one looks like shit, everything is dark and in ruins
I'd say Demons Souls and all 3 Dark Souls are worth your time. I burnt out on Elden Ring about 3 bosses from the end. An interminable game. About 4 hours in I stopped enjoying it and told my wife I was riding around aimlessly trying to find the actual game in this game. The worst thing they've done in years.

The more I replay their King's Field series, the more it grows on me. I think KF2 (1 in the US) and KF4 are two of their best games.
