Have you ever given someone a gift to spite them or someone else?

There's a party coming up and this girl is making a stink behind the scenes about me not being vaccinated. I don't have strong feelings either way about the vaccine but I don't feel the need to get it. I don't mind if I don't go, the people hosting the party are very close to her, and I've only met them once, albeit they invited me. She's a person I really enjoy but I'm considering sending an expensive bottle of booze to the party host with a note that says 'I wish I could be there but have fun' just to spite her. It sounds like it could be very funny to me and make her upset.
