I talk to smart people in my social circle or family and they say things like “if you’re mad at refugees trying to build a better life, you’re mad at the wrong people” and other such nonsense and really mean it. That has to happen, and if the government tries stamping it down then that'll obviously lead to a lot of civil unrest, which we're already seeing of course. Just multiply that by a 1000x and that's what's likely in store.

I've said this to irl friends & I'll tell you why (with fear of sounding like a liberal douche); when something is badly wrong, I critique the people who're purportedly in-charge of keeping things right. I look to the top of the control pyramid, not the bottom.
I hate the fact that rapists & murderers are coming to my country, but what I hate more than those people are the insulated elites who're orchestrating & allowing it.
