If YOU are the easier thing to fire/reprimand, then you will 100% of the time get in trouble for contacting HR. IF you are emotional, whiny, and have no evidence, you are likely not going to see anything positive happen from contacting HR.

Hearsay will get you in trouble, whining will get you in trouble, but bringing to HRs attention that their asshole GM in the middle of nowhere Nebraska is going to get them sued, they will 100% of the time do something about it.
