I've never seen Miller's Crossing but I've always found the Coen bros to be incredibly overrated. My favourite is probably Burn After Reading but everyone seems to rank it low among their filmography.

You’re taking this film seriously when it’s deliberately not asking you to. Gabriel Byrne hitting the guido with a chair ‘Jesus, Tom…’ Caspar’s scene with his son where he asks him ‘to be more like this man!’ Also: ‘I need me hat.’ It’s just meant to be fun. Like Streets of Fire. Obvious adult cartoon nonsense.

Exactly. How is that good? And their movies are based on a premise of misunderstanding. Where a simple line of dialogue would clear everything up and end the movie. They are the "threes company" of film. Gay...fucking shit.
Their movies are very heavily dependent on performance from the people they cast. That’s the saving grace. Overrated maybe. It depends on how you rate films.

Raising Arizona is over rated I think. Fargo is ok… but yea, that’s over rated too.

This movie and TBL are about the only ones I would go out of my way to see again.
