I've got a massively elliptic taste, so I'm into all sorts of shit (a lot of which you'd think was shit)

But what are people into? I'm not really looking for videos or anything (unless it's something I wouldn't have heard of, & really special).

I know we're gonna get Metallica (cool, but YAWN!)

What's everyone into? I like all sorts of (some might say) shit music, so no judgement here. I'm genuinely interested!

classic country, new wave, garage/indie rock, some hardcore punk, death metal, and noise stuff from when i was younger. not to sound like a boomer or a faggot in youtube comments, but i unironically think that the 60s/70s produced the best and most timeless modern music (particularly country and folk/psychedelic rock).

Acquired taste, but really digging the direction of Julian Casablancas's band The Voidz. If you can get over the tongue in cheek autotune, it's all pretty good and unique.

Have an acute appreciation of pretty much every genre, but very selective and gay.

They did.
I mean 70s pop got pretty gay with Barry Manilow and shit, but radio/distribution was the wild west back then compared to today. Bands could experiment and the people in control could promote them and reach audiences.
Today everything is curated by focus groups and sounds the same.

totally agree. it's irritating when you make this point and there's some faggot that says "nah man there is still good music, you just have to find it!" which completely misses the point (mainstream music). but frankly 'alternative'/independent music can be just as bad. in some cases it's even more hateable because it's zoomers outright mimicking what's already been done and comes off as forced and larpy.

There is still good music today. I don't listen to him, but Hozier is amazing. There's ways to access good music if you have the self-industry to find it.

But mainstream music is objectively worse and becomes moreso every few years.

Just look at rap as a case-study. Lol. Mainstream mumble rap is a cruel joke, but there are rappers out there if you care to find them.
