I think it was good through 4, the John Lithgow season. After that it lost its way. The last season started off with promise but just completely fell off a cliff.

I'd argue that seasons 1-4 were some of the best in television history. However, Season 5 even though it started great got really fucking bad once he got that new love interest and never recovered.

Season 6 was so fucking stupid and predictable. The writing got hilariously bad.

Season 7 I actually enjoyed and while it wasn't great was still a huge improvement over the previously 2.

Season 8 was by far the worst and so fucking boring. Literally nothing happens and then it ends with one of the worst endings for a TV show ever.

As far as this goes, I'll still watch it since I've seen the rest of the series, but i'm keeping my expectations very low.
