Have some heartburn and can’t sleep right away so I put this shit on.

It’s astounding that this movie did so well and that it got such hype. Literally glorifies being n-people, and when they get in trouble for Fuck the Police they go out and rap about holding their dicks and smoking 8-balls.

Then we get the scene where Dr. Dre’s retarded little brother can’t keep his nose out of trouble and ends up getting killed. Whose fault is it? It’s Compton’s fault, that’s who.

I hate this fucking movie don’t even get me started on how every white person in it is some sack of shit or (((manager))).

So, where we at?

had no plans on watching that piece of shit and this summary only cements it, sounds awful
Seriously. I made it about halfway and it’s just been nothing but chimping out and “wypipo bad and sheeeeit”. Imagine identifying with this shit and feeling like this is your “culture”, and saying white people have no culture. Patrick levels of insanity.

Ok, enough being AntH / Joe. Sorry.

It was hilarious when Dre walked out of Death Row and Suge was all "What you gonna do N-Person? You nothing without me!"

And Dre is at the door and light shines on him like he's Jesus and he just says "Aftermath" OMG That was his next album!!!

Would have been a better movie if they didn't kiss Dre's ass the whole time. I wanted to see Dee Barnes get it right in the kisser pow!

Watch “The Defiant Ones” on HBO if you like Dre. Miniseries about Dre, Eminem and Interscope Records. Paints Dre as a pretty big fuck up post NWA, before finding Eminem and becoming a billionaire.

Dr. Dre teased his third album Detox for 20 years, leaking and releasing singles and snippets, all while saying he was such a perfectionist that he had a tough time releasing a finished product. Then Straight Outta Compton comes out and Dre is like "Hey actually I did a soundtrack for this movie and it's also my third album." One can reasonably assume that the people behind the movie cut a huge check to get Dre to do another album and gave him free reign to rip out anything in the script that portrayed him in an unflattering context. Elements of the movie have been debunked several times over by people who were there. In addition to portraying Dr. Dre as a saint who never did anything wrong, it seems biased against Eazy-E with the way they portrayed him towards the end. Jerry Heller was a fucking snake and they sort of showed that but also made him out to be a civil rights crusader lifting black voices. In actuality, he was a walking stereotype sneaky Jew manager who saw some black kids who knew nothing of the music industry or contracts and took them all for easy marks.

Musician biopics tend to suck for the most part. Ray was good, from what I remember, and I did enjoy Walk the Line. The Dirt was disappointing. But hip-hop biopics especially tend to be very biased in one way or the other. The Biggie movie Notorious was a huge piece of shit, but the part that always comes to mind when I reflect on how awful it was was his final conversation with his daughter on the telephone where he tells her not to let no man ever call her a bitch and imparts fatherly wisdom on her as if it's the last time he'll talk to her. Then, out of NOWHERE, he gets shot and killed days later. I didn't even bother with All Eyez on Me.

didnt even know about this, will probably watch it later. Only semi related but I caught "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood" like a year ago and, given you remember the movies/culture of the time it's satirizing, man is it a fucking treat

also semi related, the most recent Adam Curtis documentary Can't Get You Out of My Head, which is in 6 parts if i remember right, had an episode that focused heavily on Tupac Shakur and his mother Afeni Shakur and her involvement with the Black Panthers and how that influenced Tupac and late 80s early 90s rap scene in general. Too lazy to get a link but it's worth watching

Dr. Dre is the Led Zeppelin of hip hop in that he's actually just a hack. He just happens to be the biggest, most prolific one. He stole other people's material, passed it off as "sampling" when it's just taking an entire riff or song and putting rap over it, and he himself is a shitty rapper and sounds retarded. Like Zeppelin, he's invincible because of how much power and money he has.

Nothin' But a G Thang is just Leon Haywood's "I Wanna Do Something Freaky To You".
California Love is just Joe Cocker's "Woman To Woman".

You probably know this, but Eazy E shit all over Dre in the mid 90s and revealed that Dre used to dress like a homo and wear lipstick. Real Muthafuckin' G's and It's On are some of the most insulting songs I've heard. No wonder Eazy got buried in the movie, faggot Dre probably still hates his guts.

“But tell me who’s a witness to your fucking birf, see you never had no business so save the drama jerk” still makes me laugh to this day. If I remember right Eazy E didn’t actually write Real Muthaphuckkin Gs. It was Dreyster and OG knockout. I’m a faggot for knowing this but it’s why I didn’t watch this shit film. I knew it was going to be garbage. The only actual gangster in that group with any cred was E and I think MC Ren?

Eazy-E is dead, so they could portray him however they wanted without getting sued. I assume that is why the movie was never able to come right out and call out Heller as the cheating heeb he is.

Funny though, Ice Cube was a co-producer, but was fine with the scenes of him trashing the record exec office and hiring the Nation of Islam. But he was also the first one smart enough to quit getting kiked by Heller.
