The plants are all fucked-up and rootbound. Good place to steal succulent leaves though, the morlocks who work there don't bother watering anything so they sure as hell don't care if you're tearing off leaves

We've got the opposite problem here; they overwater everything. The discounted succulents I got were waterlogged and moldy. I'm trying to save the last survivor but it doesn't look like it'll make it.

From what I understand, nurseries () provide big box stores with plants, and whatever doesn't sell or dies is just inventoried and thrown out by the nursery and the store is given a credit. So outside of someone working there personally giving a shit, there's no real reason to knock yourself out doing that job

Also restaurants with nice outdoor areas. There's a Mexican spot two towns over that has a massive succulent garden, food is so-so but worth the trip for the pocketful of starters I always leave with.
