We have a friend of the family who worked in the diamond industry as a bookkeeper in the 70s and 80s. He retired just when the idea was being thrown around to end apartheid. He moved back to Greece in his late 40s never worked again and currently lives in a very affluent area in Athens. He always had nice things to say about SA. Obviously the beauty of it but as a country over all. As a Greek American SA was embargoed by the USA so we didn't get much info on it. I do remember also him saying that he felt the blacks were being mistreated and they deserve equal rights.
Side note: He's my father's age and I'm a few years older than his only daughter and he and my Dad sort of spoke about me marrying his daughter. She came from money, and I have an American passport. She was fat (by 80s standards, today she'd be considered doable and thick) but she also had a fucking mustache. A sweet girl who was great to hang with but no fucking way could I make out with Mark Spitz

The actual problem is inflation. Over 20 years your social security benefits will stay the same but you’ll be able to purchase less. Over 20 years the amount you’ve put into SS has been destroyed by inflation.

Then of course the other issue is putting people on SS who won’t pay into it as much as what they’ll get out of it, aka Migrants.
