I had to look up Beyond Earth. Sounds like it was supposed to be Alpha Centauri 2.0.

Alpha Centauri is probably very dated now if you go back and play it but I loved that it was scifi Civ and your nukes could actually create giant craters in the landscape. The red fungus shit was really annoying if my 12 year old brain is remembering correctly. One of those mechanics that would need to be automated somehow if they re-did it. Give me a slider bar that eats up my budget in order to keep it under control.

Beyond Earth was terrible and so many were disappointed that it was not Alpha Centauri reinvented.

I never played AC but it’s one of those games that no one ever says anything bad about.

I don’t play video games anymore because I’m not a faggot but I used to love Civ. Great games, Sim City too, the problem though is that they get tedious after a while. I don’t know how an adult with kids and responsibilities can sit down and play video games for hours and feel good about it. Play Victoria 3, has a huge learning curve but the trick is managing your trade routes efficiently and reacting to the AI's goings on. Ottoman Empire having a civil war? Profit by arming their revolutionaries.

I literally just started up Victoria 3 for the first time about a week ago. I didn't expect it to be a trade route game -- is that the real core of it?

It's hard to want to play a game where your citizens need paper so you just go to the market and trade with Great Britain, but arming revolutionaries in a war sounds kind of cool.
