I was wrong about Assassin's Creed: Coon Shadow

I liked it but I’m just done with open world formulaic games, I just want lineal cool stories, some open world is okay but I basically think bioshock is still unbeatable to this day.

I also liked those OG open world games like morrowind where you had to invest yourself and literally read diaries and maps to figure out where to go, they made them user friendly with arrows pointing where to go and prompts for what to do and it took away the charm. I will get around to playing breath of the wild at some point on my switch because I’m told it’s more retro and like that, but I just can’t summon the will power to spend my free time gaming. I need long, long stretches before getting the desire back. I can’t understand people who live to game.

One plus and minus about Elden Ring was the quests. Played to me like Demon Souls with training wheels. Not shitting on Fromsoft, but I dont understand the hype

I'm going to start running through the series soon. I doubt the writing is amazing, but it was the singular vision of one eccentric, brilliant man. The games were ahead of their time until they weren't. Love older PC games that were created by talented, driven individual(s) instead of 500 people using the same 3 engines and were focus tested.

His video on Bioshock: The Hatred is only 16 minutes long.

But his analysis on Infinite is just top tier. I actually didn't like Bioshock when I played it. Loved the introduction of it, of course, but the actual game play had no tension because you can just respawn infinitely and the big daddy's keep their life level where it was when they killed you.

I wanted to play Infinite but never did, and I'm so glad. I know I would have played the game and been very upset at it, but I wouldn't have known exactly why, other than a caveman "me no like this" thought. I've had visceral reacts to certain games and movies since and at least now I know why.

Assassins Creed has been shit since 3, except Black Flag maybe... The story was clearly supposed to end with 3, but they ruined it so the series could become the new Call of Duty.
