Jax is an operational retard. She knows what she is doing. This bankruptcy ordeal is just a cog in her credit card fraud scheme. She's a low life conman above anything else. From her point of view, she already stole the money from those card companies, she already won.

But she has to put up a show. Even a conman needs to keep face and she grovelling and accepting her fate doesnt fit her roleplaying. So she needs to show that she is fighting. She needs to keep the lie alive and try to tie herself to the torswats case. She needs to make it look she can be a threat to Dan Mullen. She knew that we would find out about this and that it will be tossed aside in a second; but she's not playing this for the judge, but for the audience.

I think she grew up there and her mom is Hispanic. I’m pretty sure she’s fluent.

Also I’ve never been to Puerto Rico but do people actually speak English? Could you live in San Juan and not speak Spanish and get by?
