Bitch, you control what you look like. Are you saying the way you present yourself is inherently funny or something? Because that is literally what a clown does. You could get tickets in NY for this tour for $10, that was a couple of months ago (I checked), I checked a few months later just before the tour started (but not NY) and there was only one sold out show (somewhere like Portland) out of maybe 40 shows minimum, I looked at random dates and saw largely empty theatres, the last time I saw pricing you could get a ticket in NY for max $30.
I read the article (multiple times), I know it's full of academic word vomit styled to appease contemporary 'intersectional identarians' but I also think if you break it down the author clearly doesn't like the show at all and is only doing that to 'meet the brief' (same reviewer - who primarily does TV comedy - has an article entirely shitting on Ellen). The academic nonsense is actually there to run cover for the authors view that basically says this isn't a very good show and Gadsby has nothing much new or worthwhile to say (she sprinkles these comments amidst the academic praise crap) - even the reviewers views on Gadsbys earlier stuff is not so hot once you get into it. My guess is they were forced to review this crap and forced to toe the line because there was a publicist breathing down their necks.
Couple months back Gadsby did a Rolling Stone interview where she literally said her career didn't decline she was actually 'doing a work' all along and she intentionally ruined it (I'm not making this up), and - ha ha - you were a part of it, you just didn't realise it was a work (she's soooo much smarter than you). She was actually undermining the patriarchy and Netflix all along and never wanted to be a 'famous comedian' - didn't you know that? Silly you!
Seeing this repulsively smug POS fail is incredibly satisfying on so many levels.
