The old school Stern callers were just autistic goofs and maniacs but always real. Stern's Wack Pack has some pretty amazing stuff over the years. Crazy Alice, Dr Remulak, Beetle Juice, Hank, Sal, Richard, Daniel Carver, Hateman, Eric the Midget, Captain Janks, Evil David Letterman, and so on. Old school Stern during the Jackie years or first couple of Artie years have some of the funniest radio moments of all time.

Sal literally called into the show so much it became his full time career. Daniel Carver got his own Sirius roast (arguably the funniest roast in the entire history of comedy). Eric the Midget became a celebrity and was on actual mainstream shows. Captain Janks is probably the greatest prank caller in history.

For people wondering why O&A never went all out with their own Wack Pack is because management was terrified of O&A listeners. Stuff like Homeless Shopping Spree was a legal nightmare. And the Ladi Di Internship nearly got O&A suspended. You could get one or two trusted autistic maniac fans like Bobo into the studio but anyone not vetted heavily turned into like Homeless Charlie or Lady Di and management would lose their minds.

Stern once lost his mind over Crazy Cabbie filming a porno in his studio. They threw everything out because of the germs and contamination. Cabbie was of course fired. Ron Jeremy was in the porn and was rubbing his dick on all of the furniture and props in the studio. And he was facefucking things like the OJ mask.

Agree, either the Artie or Gary one was the best. The Carver roast wasn't funny per se but the humor came from him not getting fazed at all and firing back with funnier stuff. The comedians weren't even funny, they just called Carver names. Robins sperg out was also great when she found out Carver was gonna be sitting in her booth for the roast.
