Considering Amazon is a huge company it's surprising they can't knock Netflix out. Disney and Amazon likely to eventually win the streaming wars but right now Amazon is crap for content.

I can't see Amazon really getting a foothold outside of North America. Netflix is still coasting off of the founder effect and Disney+ at least has brand recognition on its side, but Amazon is pretty much a non-entity outside of America and has nothing to offer that appeals to boomers in places like Germany or Australia apart from the Clarkson stuff.

I think streaming companies are making the same mistakes network cable companies did 20 years ago by being short-sighted in their greed and not taking foreign markets into account. Piracy has been the norm in the world because these companies made it way too hard for foreigners to access their shit, and the advent of streaming media was a brief respite from that because Netflix waa affordable and convenient enough. No one in his right mind is going to pay for like three of four subscriptions though, so I coukd easily see a rise in international pirating happening again and hamstringing all their inflated expected earnings.

Amazon has live sport. That puts ahead of Netflix eventually. Already has premier league here in the UK over Christmas ( peak Amazon prime time) and I think some rugby and tennis.

Add to that Amazon has delivery, photo storage and music it's even with crappy video well worth it.

You can find a lot of wacky low budget horror type films, just keep looking at titles and then look at related stuff until the names plots get goofy

They're not good at all, but they're interesting to put on a side tab if you're just fucking around on the internet

I discovered some interesting Russian WW2 movies that way. It was interesting seeing the war from the eastern front

Especially if you have allavsoft. It only takes a couple of minutes of looking through Google to get a free software key and now you have a program that downloads movies and TV shows without the ads.

Look Jamie just because you were too stupid to use the "free to me" button doesn't mean you have to lash out emotionally and give me the car crash effect.

I'm just trying to help you. I mean OBVIOUSLY it must be hard to find in the right hand corner if you couldn't find it...

View attachment 28146

Jeez... I mean I'm looking at the upper right hand corner and I just can't seem to find it. I mean where could it be Jamie?

Ah man... Now I'm going to have to sit here and sort through a bunch of movies and not know whether or not they're free. I mean it's not like the ones that are included in prime have a little white ribbon wrapped around the left corner of each thumbnail that say prime on them or anything...

So let's review:

There is a "free to me" button in the upper right hand corner that filters out movies and shows that aren't free.

The categories literally say "included with prime" in blue letters in each one.

and each little thumbnail for every specific movie has a little ribbon in the upper left hand corner that has "prime" written on it when it's free.

Congratulations, you fucked up being able to use Amazon correctly despite 3 different failsafes.
I can't believe I'm still engaging this horseshit. So in my country...the homepage looks NOTHING like this. There is no
"free to me" button. Jesus Christ. I know you think we're all American but it's not the case. Do you fucking work for Prime? Next time I have a missing package I'll be sure to mention that there is this dude in the U.S who loves your streaming choices.

VPN service? Idk. Or maybe move out of whatever country you live in that isn't US. Either way good luck my dude. I'm sure one day you'll overcome this crippling Amazon disability.

I can guarantee you that none of these streaming services make money aside from HBO Max. Netflix has maybe triple the overhead technical costs of the next highest streaming service and owns almost none of their content. Amazon basically gives their entire service out for free to Prime users and also owns none of the content aside from a few shows or movies. Disney has had extremely low numbers of people who resubscribe and are getting hosed with their bundle packages of Hulu/ESPN+ and so on. And they are always trying to raise the prices.

In the next year or two you will see all services begin offering a cheaper version with advertisements or an even cheaper versions saturated with commcercials. And then eventually the premium versions without ads in them will all contain ads and you will not have ad free versions ever. It will be just like cable where nearly every channel will be filled with ads and commercials and almost no premium content. And they will stop making DVDs and Blurays. HBO already is in the phase of no longer supporting Bluray releases for new shows.

The streaming wars have nothing to do with them competing with each other. They are just running their services at a loss until they can collude together and push heavy advertisements on everyone. None of them are making money at all. They are just like the ride share or house rental apps that make no money but get massive venture capital money.

I tried watching a 1945 movie and not only was the quality terrible but it was colorized. I am using one example to declare Amazon streaming is a FAGGOT.

That's because they put on a lot of public domain movies that are sourced by beat to shit, sixth generation VHS copies. I have a VPN, and have noticed this with a lot of old, pre-Paramount Hitchcock. You want a good copy to watch, you're paying. Otherwise you'll watch The 39 Steps and the whole movie is snowing.

As for the colorization, I am not a fan (Fuck you Ted Turner), but there are some people who actually do it right. Legend Films is one of them, and a guy on YouTube does amazing work himself. It's still public domain films, but it can be done.

If not for the Turner Classic Movies hub on HBO Max, I wouldn't watch much on it. Though I am partial to Looney Tunes. It's the one app I watch the most for those two reasons though.

Yeah I watch more TCM shit on HBO Max than HBO stuff. Helps also they have a lot of janus films prints and criterion prints on there too. Besides streaming services I just have a Kodi set up to stream from my seedbox which I just torrent shit on and the quality is so much better than anything a streaming service can give.
