Maybe I'm just a curmudgeon, but stolen base totals are meaningless these days with all the new rules (larger bases/shorter basepaths and limits on pickoff attempts) that Manfred the wop retard (but I repeat myself) added to the game in recent years. I'm sure the Jap will get zoomers to transform into baseball megafans now that games dropped from 3 hours to 2 hours and 53 minutes, despite the fact that they barely have the attention span to sit through a forty-second tiktok video. Sport saved.

Fun fact: Looked up stolen base records the other day and was surprised to see that most of the top twenty SB leaders played in the 1800s. Turns out they counted it a stolen base whenever a runner on first made it to third on a teammate's hit until 1898. All-time SB leader Hugh Nicol had 138 in 1887. In comparison, Rickey Henderson had 130, under modern SB rules, in 1982.

It's the same for wins for pitchers. Some season records won't be broken because back in the day even if a pitcher got hurt and taken out in the 2nd inning, he would still get the win or loss.

As great as Shohei is, I have my crush on Shota Imanaga.

I watched him last season in Japan and he dominated. I knew he'd find success here. It probably won't be for long because batters will eventually figure him out, but he's been great so far.

Ground rule doubles were counted as homeruns until like 1929 or 30, too.

you're not a curmudgeon, you just don't know baseball that well.
The total amount of steals are up like 20% compared to the past decade, but the 70's, 80's, 90's all had more total steals in the league per season as compared to the past two years.
The "stolen bases are easier" meme comes from people skimming clickbait headlines.
how many players have 50+ sb this season?
how many did 40/40? (no one)
how many even did 30/30? like 3.

nobody else will be able to do 50/50 for a couple decades until a new phenom comes up, def no acuna, his knees are shredded wheat now.
ohtani legit put up a top 10 offensive season that nobody has ever done, not Mays, bonds, etc,
the next guy with the most sb with 50+ bombs EVER is like 25 sb.

GET FUCKED
How many of the SBs were completely meaningless? If Lindor didnt get hurt he should have been MVP. DH MVP? Get fucked

ohtanis offense is statistically worth more than the blue haired faggot clown's offense and defense combined.
he's a great leader, great vibes
fucking yuck

and they threw like 80 mph until like the 1950's and had part time electricians and milkmen in the lineup.
stats don't even really count until they lowered the mound after 1968, the top high school travel teams today would decimate the 1927 Yankees lmao.
there's just no contest, Ted Williams, ruth, DiMaggio, even Pete rose can't hold a candle to miggy, trout, ohtani, judge with the pitching theyre facing
your average AAA player today would be a hall of famer in the 1930's.
The old timers also didn't face niggers, which means no Dominicans in the league, so there's that too.

Yeah I'm sure Teddy Ball Game, one of the greatest hitters to ever live, wouldn't stand up to a minor leaguer. You're giving pogromstallone a run for their money in having nothing but shitty opinions
