We send them billions and military equipment and they've had no luck turning Russia back. That is a fact. They have no chance of recapturing the Donbas or most of the territory Russia has captured. They won't Lose as long as we keep artificially pumping them up, but they won't Win. N ch like in Vietnam, as long as our troops held the areas around the border, northern forces couldn't invade en masse from loss and Cambodia, but the minute we pulled out? Overran.

All the arguments for supporting Ukraine (vs just doing it because Russia=Bad) are based on Sunk Cost Effect. If we pull out that money is wasted so we keep throwing good money over bad hoping Russia quits or collapse. But idiots like Patrick have been saying since the beginning Russia was just about to run out of fuel/ammo/vehicles/men and it hasn't happened. Having a strategy based on hopes and dreams isn't a reason to continue a war, let alone escalate it

Ok, it's more than just planes, vehicles etc we are sending, there's also ammunition, missiles rockets etc that are coming from the strategic supply of the US and NATO nations. And I'm talking things we actually use, it's not just all old gulf war stuff we'd never look at again. those may be replenished at some point in the future but right now that isn't happening, and producing those things will take time even when they do decide to. That leaves the US and NATO in a tenuous position if say, a large scale conflict erupts. So it's not Russia's military that is being depleted, it's ours.

Exactly what we are doing now is working. Putin took so many kickbacks from defense contractors it seems that every billion spent on defense was actually 100 million in legit spending. Now that they need the military they are stuck with 40 year old equipment and Iranian surplus garbage.

Now IM JUST ASKING QUESTIONS here, genuinely, but lets move to a hypothetical: Ukraine “wins” the war by reverting back to their territorial claims post 2014 (Russia keeps Crimea, etc). Do we just assume the US doesn’t start raping Ukraine financially? Look at the UK post WWII. We came to collect once that war ended over how much we militarily helped them.

Ammo is ammo. So we agree that is being produced and sent now. My point is still that the argument “we’re sending billions” is bad. We are sending billions to our own defense contractors to create and build modern weapons while unloading excess equipment built in the 90s to help Ukraine. Our tanks will rot away in warehouses and get turned to scrap otherwise.
