I just view it as a theatre of a larger war that everybody is involved in but nobody is declaring. Russia is trying to re-establish the Soviet Union/Russian Empire, China is going to take Taiwan and take over the world's busiest shipping lane, Iran and N Korea trying to eliminate their rivals which also takes us down a peg. I think Russia's move into Ukraine was supposed to be step 1 in the larger war - with China throwing the second punch.

I don't need Ukraine to capture the Donbass region tomorrow. Keeping the second largest geopolitical rival to the USA bogged down while costing zero US lives while the Ukrainians get to defend their county...meh, I'm ok with it.
