I’m not sure how you could possibly think this would work, but then again, it’s niggers.

It’s like when people think if the bank make a mistake and credit you too much money, that you’re entitled to keep it. How could you be that stupid?
When I sold my first house, Fifth Third bank accidentally sent me a check for close to 250k.. I tried depositing it and within 2 days it was gone >_<

I keep seeing different methods for this “scam”

the first one is the check one you mentioned, which isn’t really a scam. You’re just telling the bank you’re taking out 40k and they allow you to expecting you to actually have it.

The second one is that at Chase ATMs they make you review your ATM service after a transaction. Most don’t close out of the window or review it. So people would come behind them, hit the “back” button on the review screen, and it would pull up the customers account and you could just pull out money. Which is also not a “scam” but fraud
wht I heard is that it ws a glitch re. mobile depositing (scanning) a cheque & for some reason it released the funds instantly - probably because instantly clearing cheques will soon be a thing.

When I was 11/12yrs old I put a few £1million cheques into my account so I could flex the 'balance' on friends, not sure if I tried to withdraw anything on it (there's a non-zero chance that I tried)... The bank just told me I was a silly goose & closed my account.

I had a bank error give me $1,750 back in 2010 and it never got taken away.

I never "touched it" but also never said anything about it pretended I never noticed it.

I think about it often but think it's too late for the bank to notice.

The story with my girlfriend was exaggerated, but she received a large amount of money and thought transferring it to another account was a loop hole to keep it.

Even the worst financial crimes have a 10 year limit. You're good.
I expected it to disappear at some point and when it didn't by the time I had to close my account I felt like a free man. I even kept an eye on my new bank account for a few years waiting for some charge back and it never happened. I still technically haven't touched it lol.
