I was in high school when he really hit it big. I saw so many of his movies in theaters with fawkin chicks. They loved that guy. Superbad, Juno, Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Youth in Revolt. I’d just fucking had it with him, and Juno is the one that really summarizes the worst of that era’s ironic, quirky hipster bullshit.

Never saw Juno, but in the quirky, ironic hipster "lol so random" category is Garden State. What a gay pile of shit. It's Reddit: The Movie. Zach Braff is a no talent queer that belongs in an oven. "You need to listen to this gay indie rock song. It'll change your life!" Will it? And then they have a cameo by Method Man. Whoa! Cool black guy! In fact, anything by Kevin Smith. Even Clerks has aged horribly. The worst part is those fancy esoteric words that are supposed to introduce different scenes, like "Serendipity".

Clerks aged like fucking milk. The qualities that made it noteworthy back then make it borderline unwatchable now. Le quirky, snarky sockpuppeting by Smith and unironic pretentiousness. It's the height of pomposity.

Clerks 2 is a lot better because it doesn't pretend to be much more than a silly comedy.

That Joker movie really annoyed me, especially the gay ending.

I remember not minding it as much when I thought it was just ripping off Taxi Driver. Then I watched The King of Comedy afterwards and discovered that Joker is literally just a copy of that script but as directed by an autistic emo teenager.

The one thing I'll give Joker is that it's surprisingly competent for a movie that had no reason to exist and should've been the most embarrassingly bad capeshit film conceptually.

The praise for that and Hereditary is embarrassing. I like a few A24 movies but they have been massively overhyped.

Only thing I’ll say about A24 is they are least doing somewhat different ideas for movies. Not saying they’re all good but at least it’s not cape shit.

The first Hangover wasn’t that bad but itself by douchy guys ruined it. The sequels? Holy shit those were awful, I don’t think I ever met anyone that actually liked Hangover 2 and 3.

Anything by Tarantino after Jackie Brown. His films come off like a bad Elmore Leonard imitation mixed with godawful grindhouse elements. Good Will Hunting - the title is terrible and stupid and not smart at all. Matt Damon crying - just looks like he's constipated, terrible acting. Robin Williams saying 'I will end you' is embarrassing (couldn't think of a better line?). Minnie Driver is definitely porkable though, I like the rest - the scene where Affleck tells him to fuck off is good (cause that's what I felt I would say to Damon if I were there 'just, fuck off please').

Apparently in the original script there was a whole subplot about will and his masshole friend Chucky evading the government intelligence agencies who were trying to recruit Will for secret research. But Rob Reiner basically told them it didn't work and they should stick to the therapy and romantic plots
