Ok so here's a more realistic scenario for you to follow based off of actual numbers.
California minimum wage at $20 is only for fast food workers. The rest of the state is $16 an hour.
That means there are chances of said scenario.
Some company that may give you better future opportunities but start you at $18 an hour.
Dumb 19 year old sees $20 and thinks it's better and choose McDonald's.
1 year later that $18 an hour job can become a $22 an hour job because of the future opportunities it was prospected initially to have.
McDonald's is still paying the minimum wage after a year which would have probably increased to $21 an hour.
So in the end less.
How is this some Facebook meme?
I just don't think someone with a high school education is choosing the heavy stigma of the fast food industry over unionized trades. Even with the short term pay gap, nobody wants to say they work in fast food out loud.
