you can’t just fund peoples lawsuits and not be liable for repercussions, otherwise people could just maliciously fund anyones retarded legal vendettas purely to fuck with opponents or business rivals.

Having now read the quash in full I'm convinced more than ever they funded the lawsuit. They call it "overbroad" but the request is for information relating to loans, loan agreements and financial arrangements, and only for the dates in question. Cloudflare gave up information without even hesitating, but they're going to spend $6,000 trying to quash this?

any legal precedent for this? plenty of NGOs, unions, lobby groups fund all kinds of lawsuits all the time, some of whcih fail. Some litigants even crowdfund, if thousands donate does that mean thousands are on the hook for potential future costs? No way. The mere act of giving money to someone for a lolsuit can't have such a massive string attached automatically.

Frankly even the contract hypothesis seems weird, if Pat has a contract with SFWA that's private between them. Unless Pat showed it to Jen to prove the funds are there, no need to take Susan, as part of a negotiation?

1. Quasi's hired a specialist debt lawyer to get money of of Fatrick
2. That lawyer has asked for a bunch of details on how the SFWA have been spending their money, specifically in relation to Fatrick.
3. The SFWA are overjoyed by this opportunity to show the court how efficiently and prudently their charity spends its money, and have filed a 76 page document explaining exactly where the money went.

EDIT: I might be slightly wrong about that last bit; it's apparently 76 pages of "No, it's secret"; presumably because kids are so heavily featured in their expenses.
